Presentation by Lau Chi Chung
In this sharing session, Lau Chi Chung will share the bizarre and intertwining stories of the creative process of his upcoming large-scale spatial installation. Consisting of photography, moving images and text, the installation will be unveiled in CHAT’s Winter Programme 2021. Eager to tell the story of Hong Kong through the legendary history of calligrapher Au Yeung Cheong and his own experience and memories, Lau will bring audiences on a imaginative journey through time to the State Theatre building.

Lau Chi Chung 劉智聰
Artist 藝術家
Lau Chi Chung graduated from The Surrey Institute of Art & Design University College (BFA on Interior Design) in 1999, and worked in the television commercial industry as an art director before becoming a full-time artist. Although he started out on short films, Lau has mostly worked in photography and has exhibited in various international photo festivals. His photography series Landscaped Artifacts in 2013 brought him the title of New Photography Artist of the year from Lianzhoufoto Festival 2013. Lau has also received third prize of Hong Kong 1st Photobook Dummy Award 2021 at Hong Kong Photobook Festival for his latest work The Dayspring of Eternity. 劉智聰在1999年畢業於英國薩里藝術設計學校(室內設計系學士),從事電視廣告美術指導工作多年,同時積極投入個人藝術創作,由早年拍攝獨立短片到近十多年專注於攝影創作。作品曾於多個國際攝影節展出,亦獲博物館及私人收藏家收藏。當中攝影作品《山水文明》系列(2013)獲得連州國際攝影節新攝影年度藝術家獎,最新作品《黎明請你不要來》(2021)亦獲得第一屆香港攝影樣本書獎銅獎。
Lau Ching Ping 劉清平
Artist 藝術家
Lau Ching Ping lives in Hong Kong. Currently, he is the chair of Hong Kong International Photo Festival and was the co-founder of photo art magazine Dislocation. He received the WYNG Master Award (AIR Project), and actualised the project in a photo art book titled Thin as Air. He hopes to capture the future of the world with the most optimistic aperture. 劉清平生活於香港,曾為《娜移》攝影藝術雜誌的創編成員之一,現為香港國際攝影節主席。身為WYNG Masters Award 特別委約攝影獎(空氣計劃)得主,他希望以最樂觀的光圈設定迎接未來世界,並結集出版《薄如空氣/Thin as air》作品集。
